In Literacy, the children have been using drama to immerse themselves in our new story - The Rhythm of the Rain. They produced some amazing freeze frames which allowed the children to use emotive language to explore how the raindrop might be feeling at different points during the story.
The children have been using concrete resources to support and develop their understanding of addition and subtraction. Hazel Class have been doing fantastic at applying the newly learnt methods of column addition and subtraction to solve addition and subtraction problems.
Hazel Class have been super scientists this half-term! They have thoroughly enjoyed exploring the appearance and properties of different types of rocks. The children absolutely loved making their fossil formation videos, we definitely have some paleontologists in the making!
The children have enjoyed learning about the features of a river and it was fantastic to see them apply their knowledge on our trip to Bolton Abbey. The class are becoming more confident in using atlases and its key to identify and locate local and global rivers.
The children have immersed themselves in our French lessons and have loved playing games which require them to speak the numbers 1-12 in French to practise their French, très bien Hazel Class!
Year Three have explored what their dream school would look like as well as the concepts of rights and responsibilities. The children are working hard on listening to one another during our PSHE sessions as well as being respectful towards others and their opinions.
The children applied their knowledge from their Geography lessons by identifying the sounds of a river at its different points. In groups, they created an ostinato (a repeating pattern) and chose the most appropriate instrument to match their part of the river. The classroom almost sounded like the River Wharfe at Bolton Abbey.
The children loved getting onto the dance floor and showing off their moves in the African Dance Workshop. There was definitely some competition for who could shake the most!
All of Hazel Class have thoroughly enjoyed getting outside in Forest School and have enjoyed some (muddy!) free play as well as creating their own villages using natural resources, creating a class river (which involved a lot of mud to represent the river banks!) in addition to practising their map reading skills.
