Phonics
At North Featherstone Junior and Infant school we have chosen Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised as our systematic, synthetic phonics (SSP) programme to teach early reading and spelling. In the Autumn term we deliver Parent Information sessions to introduce Parents to the new scheme. Practice reading sessions are timetabled three times a week, taught by a trained member of staff and take place in small groups. We use Big Cat Phonics (for letters and sounds revised) books which are fully decodable.
