We took our Year 6 children outside to consolidate their understanding of multiplying fractions by an integer.  Children worked in pairs, rolling dice to create a fraction and then rolling it again to give them their integer.  They then used chalk to write out their calculations and worked together to find the answer.  We had great fun!

The children were given two squares of coloured celophane and asked to explore what 2d shapes they could see.  This opened up lots of discussion around regular and irregular shapes and the difference between these.

In this lesson, the children had great fun using the ipads to scan QR codes which were hidden around the classroom and the shared area.  The QR codes allowed questions on finding fractions of amounts to pop up on their screen which they would answer.  Once they found the answer on one of the cards stuck up around the room, they then scanned that QR code to get the next question.  Some children realised they had gone wrong with their answers when they ended up back at the starting point after only 4 questions so this encouraged the children to check their working out.
