Our class butterflies - we have nurtured them from caterpillars to butterflies! We had so much fun letting them go free into the environment.

Literacy: In Literacy our class book is Danny the champion of the world so we will be learning how to create phesant catching tricks and so much more! We have extra interventions as well as grammar lessons, class text comprehensions, guided reading and weekly spellings.

Maths: This term we will be learning about a range of skills including number and place value, addition and subtraction, multiplication and division, fractions, decimals and percentages. We are continuing with Big Maths and XFactor challenges as well as mental maths daily.

Topic: Our topic is extreme earth so we will be using this topic throughout our curriculum. This includes geography and history.

PE: As well as weekly swimming, we have the privilege this term to partner up with St. Wilfrid’s and have them come into our PE lessons and teach the children all sorts of games and activities such as athletics, rugby and gymnastics. Please may children all bring indoor and outdoor kits. (The timetable of the week is at the bottom of the newsletter).

Language: We are carrying on from last year with French! We have a special teacher from the high school that comes every monday afternoon! At the end of this year the children will be able to talk about the classroom, date, weather and be able to write fluently in paragraphs!

Science: We are delving into the world of evolution. We have lots of engaging, entertaining and educational practical activities for the children to really sink their teeth into.

Music: Along with singing this year, we will also have class recorders! (Brings back memories when I was in school!)

It’s going to be packed this term and we are really looked forward to it! We will be working hard and having fun doing it!
