Outdoor Learning

We are lucky to have a large and varied outdoor space in which the children can play and learn and access all seven areas of the early years curriculum. Our outdoor area includes a large fixed climbing frame, bark area, large grassed area, balancing beam and a tyre trail as well as a tipi and gardens for children to explore and enjoy. In addition our sensory garden, vegetable plot provide new experiences all year round for children to discover and learn. We encourage our children to experience the outdoors in all weathers. We have a covered area outside for use in really bad weather we encourage children to bring wellingtons and waterproof clothing to allow our children to enjoy the garden come rain or shine.

We also ask parents to bring their child to Foundation Stage with suitable clothing and footwear for outdoor play clearly labelled with their name. We go outside every day so each child needs a coat daily and in cold weather gloves and a hood or hat. Even when it is hot always bring a coat as our weather can change very quickly. Sun protection is also very important for young children so please make sure that your child wears high factor sun lotion and has a hat that protects both the face and the neck.
